Meet the Founder

Leasha Cherry, IEC, CSC

Leasha Cherry is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Living Every day In our Purpose (LEIP). She has spent more than fifteen years in human services, including ten years working with youth and families in their communities and five years as a school Social Worker in the public school system. Passionate about advocating for students, especially those who are underserved or those who have been marginalized, Leasha served as a School Social Worker, Dignity for All Students Coordinator, a Restorative Justice Interventionist, and now an Independent Education Consultant.

Leasha witnessed firsthand the many challenges faced by students in the inner city public school system. This experience ignited her commitment to advocating for educational equity and inspired her to explore ways to break down barriers to success. Leasha's passion for making a positive impact stems from her personal experience as a student who has faced similar challenges. She intimately understands the struggles of navigating the educational system without proper guidance and is driven by a desire to bridge the gap, ensuring that students and parents/guardians are knowledgeable and prepared to make informed decisions for their future.

Leasha holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Social Work both from the State University of New York at Albany. She earned her License in the State of New York as a Licensed Master Social Worker. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and is an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association. She also holds a Permanent Certification in School Counseling in New York State. She has built a reputation as a trustworthy individual to students and parents in the community. In addition to providing mental health counseling to students, Leasha helps students navigate college and career choices as early as their freshman year of high school. She has attended countless meetings with students, parents, and committee members to help students identify and plan for their future. She believes that the best time to start planning for your future is NOW!
